Why and how do we collect information

Our main purpose for collecting data is to provide you the Services that best meet your labor market information and compensation management needs. We collect information through various ways. Below are the most common circumstances of how we collect information:

Signing up for a Salary Board account

If you sign-up for a Salary Board account, we will ask for your email address and to create a password. After you create a Salary Board account and log in to our Services, you are no longer anonymous to us.

Completing a salary survey

If you complete a personalized report, we will ask for detailed job and compensation information that's used to generate your personalized salary report and certain portions of that data will be included in our anonymous and aggregated salary database called Crowdsourced Data.

Browsing our website

We automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, Salary Board cookie information, and the page you requested

Requesting a demo

If you request a demo from us, you will be asked to provide us your contact information and relevant information about your business, so we can contact you for scheduling and demo to you the appropriate Service based on your business structure and needs. That information is stored in our internal systems to allow us to manage our relationship with you.

From businesses that buy our services

  • Employers. We may receive data such as names, work experiences, education, skills, job title, responsibilities, benefits and salary information from your employer if your employer has purchased our compensation management Services for businesses. If your employer is a Salary Board customer, you can learn from your employer about what information it shares with us, which will vary based on the Service;
  • Recruitment agencies. We may receive data such as names, contact details, work experiences, education, skills, job title, responsibilities, benefits and salary information from a recruitment agency you’ve shared your data with, if the recruitment agency has purchased our market intelligence Services. You can learn from the recruitment agency about what information it shares with us, which will vary based on the Service.

What information do we collect

Direct information we collect

The information collected will vary depending on what Service you visit or use and how you choose to use the Service. These are examples of the types of information we collect to deliver our Services and operate our business:

  • Contact details. When you sign-up for a Salary Board account, contact us, request a demo or subscribe to our content, we collect your contact details, including your name and email address;
  • Registration details. When you register an account we collect your name, company name, email address, password and other information;
  • Billing details. If you use a credit card for billing, we may collect information such as the cardholder's name, billing address, email address, credit card number, expiry date and credit card security code;
  • Account settings. You can set or update various preferences and personal details on your account settings page or your profile. For example, your name, contact details, job title, work experiences, skills, benefits and salary information;
  • Survey data. We collect and store the survey responses that you submit, including your education, skills, job title, responsibilities, benefits and compensation data, and other information you choose to provide when you do a personalized salary report;
  • Employee data. If you are an employer using a purchased Service, your employees' names, contact details, work experiences, education, skills, job title, responsibilities, benefits and salary information you choose to provide;
  • Candidate data. If you are an recruitment agency using a purchased Service, your candidates' names, contact details, work experiences, education, skills, job title, responsibilities, benefits and salary information you choose to provide;
  • Business contacts data. If you are an recruitment agency using a purchased Service, your business contacts' names, contact details, job title you choose to provide;
  • Other data. Other data you intentionally share. We may collect your personal information or data if you submit it to us in other contexts. For example, if you provide us with a testimonial or send us an email with comments or suggestions.

Tracking technologies

We also collect information from our customers with use of tracking technologies such as cookies, beacons, tags and scripts. Here are a few brief explanations of how they work.

Cookies

Are alphanumeric identifiers that travel through your Web Browser to enable websites to recognize the browser and to enable additional features, such as signalling when your account is logged on among others. We use cookies to remember users’ settings and preferences, and for session management. Users can control the use of cookies at the individual browser level. If you reject cookies, you may still use our website, but your ability to use some features or areas of our website may be limited.

Scripts

Are programs written specifically to automate tasks, and can be found in various forms on the web.

Beacons and tags

Are embedded objects, found in either emails or web pages, to allow for checking if a user has accessed content.

Using these tracking technologies, we analyze trends, administer the website, track users’ movements around the website, and gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by these companies on an individual and aggregated basis.

Information for users of the Salary Board platforms

If you are a user of any of Salary Board’s platforms (for example a recruiter, talent adviser or HR manager), we also collect, hold and process information about you on behalf of the Customer. This information includes data uploaded to the Salary Board platform by the Customer (for example, your name, email address, employment and demographic data) and your information submitted using the Salary Board platform.

To help us provide our Services to you and the Customer, we may transfer some of your personal information to our service providers (for example, support services or email service providers). Any transfers to our service providers are covered by our agreement with the Customer. Because we collect, hold and process your information on behalf of the Customer, you will need to contact the Customer if you want to:

  • Access, correct, amend or delete any information we hold about you; or
  • Stop receiving emails sent to you by the Customer using the Salary Board platform.

How do we use the information we collect

Salary Board uses information for the following purposes:

  • to provide the Services to you, your employer (if they bought a Service from us), and our other users;
  • to verify, compile and present such anonymized Data in a form of database;
  • to provide information about our Services, offers, and events;
  • in aggregate form, to provide information to our advertisers about our users, to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they want to target, and to enable us to comply with our advertisers' wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience;
  • to secure the Services, and prevent abuse or fraud;
  • to communicate with our partners regarding business matters;
  • other purposes disclosed at the time of collection.

We do not at any time display your Personal Data as a single entry or in any way which would result in you being identified from it by any user of the Website.

Below are common situations describing how we use collected information:

  • If you choose to complete a personalized salary report through our Services, the data you input will be used to develop an anonymous and aggregated salary database we call Crowdsourced Data;
  • Processing any order you have placed;
  • Responding to any inquiry you have made;
  • Service-related announcements will be sent to you when necessary. For instance, we might send you an email if a Service is temporarily suspended for maintenance. You may not opt-out of these communications because they're not promotional in nature;
  • In aggregate form only, to provide information to our advertisers about our users, to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they want to target, and to enable us to comply with our advertisers' wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience;
  • You may receive marketing communications from us about our Services, practical guidance about salaries and careers, or our events. For example, if you sign-up for a Salary Board account but do not wish to receive any marketing emails from us, you can subscribe or unsubscribe from receiving certain types of emails through the email settings of your Salary Board account. You may also opt-out of receiving these communications by clicking the unsubscribe link provided in each communication and following the instructions provided.

How to access and delete your data

Your rights to information

We will respond to requests to access and correct (if necessary) your personal information as soon as possible. You have the following options regarding accessing, correcting or limiting the use or disclosure of your personal information:

  • User access request: You can access and get a copy of all your information upon request from us by sending an email to [email protected];
  • Update your account details: You can update your registration and other account information on your account settings page or your profile. Information is updated immediately;
  • Limiting use or disclosure: If you want to limit our use or the disclosure of your information to third parties, please contact us at [email protected]. However, please note that by limiting the use of your personal information by us, or its disclosure to third parties, you may also limit our ability to provide you with our Services;
  • Retention: We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you our Services. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements;
  • Newsletter: If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will use your name and email address to send you the newsletter. You may choose to stop receiving our newsletter or marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions included in these emails.

Deleting your data

You may ask from your data to be removed by sending an email to [email protected] (2-3 working days). By doing so, all your Personal Data will be removed from our database.

Who do we share this information with

We occasionally share information collected from individuals or business customers with the following:

  • subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, contractors, and third-party service providers who access, use, store, or process relevant data on our behalf to provide the Website and Services;

What if I purchased a business product from Salary Board?

We offer various Services for use by businesses to help them manage the compensation of their employees or for use by recruitment agencies to advise better their clients using labor market intelligence. If there's a conflict between this Privacy Policy and the terms of that agreement regarding the business Service, the terms of that agreement will control.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

We may modify this privacy policy at any time, but if we do so, we will notify you by publishing the changes on this website. If we determine the changes are material, we will provide you with additional, prominent notice as is appropriate under the circumstances, such as via email.
